Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, regarding the dissolution and cessation of the PKK’s armed struggle, stated that his country is moving toward its goal of a Turkey free from terror, overcoming obstacles and breaking down prejudices.

    — Speaking after a government meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, the capital, Erdoğan noted: Turkey considers the PKK’s announcement of dissolution a significant decision in terms of strengthening national security, regional peace, and the eternal brotherhood of the Republic of Turkey’s citizens.

He added: “With terror and violence removed from the equation, the doors to a new era in all fields will open, the most important being the enhancement of democratic capabilities for political activity.”

Erdoğan also declared: “With the PKK’s dissolution and the laying down of arms, the days when families received devastating news daily, for many long years, have come to an end.”

He emphasized: “We view the PKK’s dissolution decision as comprehensive and inclusive, encompassing all branches of the organization in Syria, northern Iraq, and Europe.”
